Hello Friends / Fans!

With over 40 years of being involved in the music / entertainment industry! This Bio happens to include a lot of history of two musicians and is a little bit lenghty! Hee! Hee!

1965 - 1977 WAS A COOL TIME! The Monkeys, The Beatles, Animals, Rolling Stones, Credance, so many cool groups to follow! Tommy James, Paul Revere and the Raiders! Then there were still the old groups Chuck Berry, The Kinks, Buddy Holly, Everly Brothers, etc, etc!

WOW! COOL! HIP! FAR OUT! GROOVY! BITCHEN, WAS ANOTHER TERM USED BY WHAT WE ALL CALLED THE IN CROWD! LONG HAIR, COOL CLOTHES, VW VANS PAINTED UP WITH FLOWERS, AND CALLED MAGIC BUSSES!

YEA IT WAS VERY COOL TO BE THERE! SOME TIMES SOME OF US CAN JUST CLOSE OUR EYES AND INSTANTLY RETURN TO A VERY COOL TIME IN OUR PAST!

DO YOU EVER GO BACK AND IT SEEMS SO REAL? I HOPE YOU DO! AND YOU WHO ARE TO YOUNG TO GO BACK TO A TIME YOU LOVED, WILL SOME DAY!

With all the cool music slappin us in the face back then garyray had to start a band! So be it, 1967 was his first band. The Beatles, Monkeys, Animals, Stones, Hermans Hermits, all the cool ones were the first bands set lists! First band was called The Sweatie Chicken all request rock n roll band! For Short, The Sweaty chicken! Played High schools and weekend Encanto Park shows on the then band shell!

Then the 70s hit us! The Bee Gees, Sly and the Family stone, good music!

Well that was about the time to hit the country scene! So the next band was formed and called The Showdown Band!

The garyray and jimmy d duo, Also known as, THE SODA POPS, has a long history, which goes back to 1980. Gary Ray had formed a band in 1977, named The Showdown Band, still a working band to this date, performing special events!

In 1980, Jimmy D, Long time steel guitar player joined up with the band. The band worked 7 nights a week up untill 1983. At that time decided to take a break. In 1984, the band reformed with some new members.

garyray had been working in a well known local recording studio, in the Scottsdale area, as a recording back up vocalist, he bumped into a drummer named, Jack Hoffman, who had just left his long time position with the late Waylon Jennings. The band fell together and launched its new sound.

From 1978 to 1987 the band is credited to opening up for several well known acts such as, Johnny Paycheck, Johnny Lee, Hank Jr, etc, All known at the time as, outlaw bands to the music industry! In 1987 The band started a 7 yr break, garyray had family obligations which desolved the band.

After a divorce in 1994,garyray bumped into long time friend, Jimmy D, In a local club. Jimmy had a band that he formed in 1993 named, The Smokey Row Band.

After 10 years with no contact with Jimmy D, garyray started setting up the bands sound and equipment. By 1996 he had taken the position as leed vocalist with, The Smokey Row Band, after the bands lead singer decided to leave to form another project.

garyray and long time old friend, Jimmy D, were back to work together once again, after not seeing each other for 10 years.
Jimmy D by this time, had built himself up a very good reputation as one of the states top steel guitar players, right along with the late well known Ed Black. Jimmy D, has been in the Phoenix area for the past 30 years and is also credited for his steel guitar work in several recording studios, with many well known recording artist over the years.

The Smokey Row Band is credited as opening acts for well known recording artists, a couple to mention are, Kenny Chesney, and Alabama!

The Smokey Row Band, is still active and working in the state of Arizona, performing special events, and its recent 13th year of entertaining in about evey honky tonk in the state, will only prove, that this band will still be around for a long tme to come!

As a duo, garyray and Jimmy D, THE SODA POPS, after all the years of eating smoke and watching people fall over intoxicated, decided they wanted more and have recently decided to pursue a full time situation in the music industry, as full time musicians playing and singing alot of almost forgotten songs, as the music industry has changed so much and forgotten the old ones!

The Duo! Has a variety of music, such as, Old Cowboy songs, Traditional Country, Old time fiddle songs some so old almost forgotten, Bluegrass, Cajon, and Oldies 50-70s Rock and classic Rock n Roll! They are currently playing different clubs and eating establishments across the Phoenix area and the state. Booking happy hours,evenings and private Bookings.

THE SODA POPS, performances include an acoustic set, some keyboard sounds, old time acoustic fiddle songs including some twin fiddle stuff, 50s - 70s old time Rock n Roll for dancing and some laughs! Oh dont forget the country music, traditional and newer!

The Soda Pops can perform Rock n Roll the whole evening or Country! Or mix it up!

With such a variety of music, the 50s - 70s incl, classic rock and some of the country music sounds performed are backed up with back up equipment with the sounds of an entire band! Yep! They work hard performing for their crowds! Oh, crowds can even dance and not just sit back and listen!

A quote from garyray! The music industry is as much a part of his heart, as his family and friends, and how could I ever think of giving up either or any of them! So this music industry is stuck with me!

The Bands, Showdown, The Smokey row Band and Duo, The Soda Pops, are in the process of working on original songs that garyray, and Jimmy D have written over the years. They will be recording long awaited, {Lifes Moments and Friends}, on CD, with a plan to be released in the near future!

Love Music Inc. Is expected to pick up the expenses for the short tour to promote their recorded memories, and Love Music inc. will also help picking up expenses to promote the CD!
